ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Turf management

Turf management means taking care of the grass that grows on fields like football, soccer, or baseball fields. Just like you take care of your hair and water your plants so they can grow, people who like playing sports on fields take extra care of the grass so it can grow properly and look good. Here's what they do:

- First, they choose the type of grass that will grow best in their area.
- Then, they prepare the soil by adding fertilizer and making sure it has enough nutrients and water to support the grass.
- They plant the grass seeds or lay down sod (a layer of grass and soil already grown elsewhere) and make sure they're evenly spread out so the grass grows nicely.
- After the grass starts growing, they keep it healthy by regularly mowing it, watering it, and adding more fertilizer.
- They also look for any signs of insects or diseases that could harm the grass and take steps to prevent or treat them.
- Finally, they make a plan for when and how the field will be used for sports games or practices, so they can keep the grass in good condition throughout the season.

So, turf management is like being a gardener for sports fields, making sure the grass is strong and healthy so people can play and enjoy sports on it.
