ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

USS Wright (AG-79)

Ok, imagine a really big boat, like a really really big boat. This boat is called the USS Wright (AG-79). It's the type of boat that goes on the water and also has a flat surface on top so that other smaller boats can land on it.

The USS Wright was made a long time ago, in the year 1944. It was made during a big war called World War II, where many countries fought against each other. The boat was supposed to help people who were fighting in the war by providing them with important supplies like food, water, and ammunition.

After the war was over, the USS Wright continued to be used by the US Navy. It was now used for different things like helping scientists do research in different parts of the world, and even as a place for important people to meet and talk about important things like politics and war.

Eventually, after many years of use, the USS Wright was retired. This means it stopped being used altogether, and was no longer a working boat. But, people still liked the USS Wright a lot because it had been a really helpful and important boat during the war and after.

So, instead of just throwing it away, the USS Wright was turned into a museum. A museum is a place where people can go to learn about things that are important or interesting. The USS Wright is now a really cool place for people to visit and learn about the history of the boat and all the things it did during its time on the water.
