Ulysses (spacecraft)

Ulysses is a spacecraft that was sent from Earth to explore our Sun. The spacecraft was launched in October of 1990 and travels around the Sun. Ulysses will take about 6 years to complete a single orbit, so it is a very long journey! Along the way it makes observations and sends back data to scientists back on Earth. Ulysses helps us learn more about the Sun, its atmosphere and its effect on the Solar System.
