ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Unit Load Device

Okay, so imagine you have a big airplane that carries lots of suitcases and boxes. Now, the people who work with airplanes need to put all those suitcases and boxes into the airplane in a way that is safe and easy.

That's where a unit load device (ULD) comes in. It's like a big rectangle box with walls that the people working with the airplane can put lots of suitcases and boxes into. This makes it easier to put everything on the airplane and take everything off.

It's kind of like when you go to the grocery store and the cashier puts all your things into a shopping bag. It's easier for you to carry everything inside one bag, instead of having to carry each item by itself.

So, a unit load device is just a big box that makes it easier to carry lots of suitcases and boxes at once on an airplane.
