Okay kiddo, have you ever played a matching game where you have to find two of the same thing that go together? Like two socks or two puzzle pieces? Well, sometimes there are words that don't have a matching word that goes with it. That means they are all by themselves and don't have a friend to play with. We call those words "unpaired words".
For example, the word "orange" is an unpaired word because there's no other word that sounds like it and means the same thing. It doesn't have a friend word like "sock" has "pair". Isn't that interesting? Some words are just special and unique all by themselves.
