ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Upland pasture

Upland pasture is a place where animals like cows, sheep, and goats can eat grass and other plants that grow on a field that is higher up than other areas. Think of it like a big, open field on top of a hill.

When farmers want their animals to eat fresh grass instead of dried hay, they bring them to the upland pasture. The animals can walk around and eat as much grass as they want. This is good for the animals because they get exercise and sunlight, and it's good for farmers because they don't have to buy as much food for their animals.

The upland pasture is different from other places where animals might live, like a barn or a feedlot. It's usually more natural and open, with fewer man-made structures. The grass and plants that grow on the upland pasture also help the environment by preventing soil erosion and providing habitats for bugs and other small animals.

So, when you hear about upland pasture, just think of it as a big field where animals can eat fresh grass and have fun running around.
