An urban ecosystem is like a big playground made up of lots of different things - buildings, streets, people, plants, animals, and even things like cars and factories. Just like in a playground, all these things can affect each other.
For example, people might build buildings or cut down trees to make room for more buildings. But that can change the habitat of other creatures that lived there before. Or cars and factories might release chemicals into the air that can make it harder for plants to grow or for animals like birds to breathe.
However, urban ecosystems can also be good places for plants and animals to live if we make sure to take care of them. We can plant gardens, build birdhouses, and create green spaces for animals to thrive. And even something small - like throwing our trash in a recycling bin! - can make a big difference by keeping the ecosystem clean and healthy for everyone who lives there.
