Utility submeter

A utility submeter is a special meter that is used to measure the amount of energy used by a particular appliance or group of appliances. It is used to measure the electricity, gas, or water used in one part of a building or home, instead of measuring all the energy used in the entire building or home. For example, if you have an apartment with several rooms, you could have a utility submeter attached to each room or group of rooms to measure how much energy each one uses separately.
