Net metering

Net metering is a way for people who generate their own electricity using something called a solar panel to get money back from the electric company. When the solar panel makes electricity, it goes into the same electric grid that the electric company uses. The electric company will measure how much electricity the solar panel gives back to the grid, and the electric company will give the homeowner a credit for the amount of electricity the solar panel produced. So the homeowner can get money back from the electric company for helping to power the electric grid.
