Off-the-grid means living without depending on things like electricity, gas, and water that are connected to the public network. Instead, people who live off-the-grid find different ways to generate power and find their own water, usually by using natural resources like the sun and the wind. This means that they do not have to rely on the public power and water networks to be able to power their home and get what they need for everyday life.
