ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Validation and verification

Validation is like double-checking your work to make sure it actually works the way you want it to. Imagine you're making a cake by following a recipe. To validate your cake, you would taste a small piece to make sure it's sweet, fluffy and delicious - just like you imagined it would be.

Verification is like checking to make sure you followed the recipe correctly. To verify your cake, you would compare your cake to the recipe instructions to make sure you didn't make any mistakes while baking. You would look at the ingredients list and make sure you used the right amount of sugar, flour, and eggs to make the actual cake.

So, the main difference is that validation is checking whether your product meets the desired requirements while verification is confirming that you did everything correctly when creating the product. Think of validation as making sure the cake tastes right, and verification as making sure all the ingredients were put in the bowl in the right amounts.
