ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Variscia

Variscia is a big word that actually refers to an area in Europe that used to be covered in mountains many years ago. These mountains were formed because two big pieces of land crashed into each other and pushed up the ground, like if you pushed your hands together and made a little hill.

Over time, these mountains also got worn down by wind and weather, so they're not as big as they used to be, but they still have some interesting features. In the Variscia region, you can find rocks that were actually formed when the mountains were still under the sea, and fossils of animals that lived a long time ago.

Today, the Variscia region is known for its pretty forests and natural scenery, as well as for its history and geology. People come from all over to explore and learn about this unique part of Europe.
