ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Venus

Venus is a planet in our solar system that is sometimes called the "morning star" or the "evening star" because it can be seen shining brightly in the sky in the early morning or evening. It's kind of like a very big ball of rock that is also covered in thick clouds made of gas.

Venus is closer to the Sun than Earth, so it is much hotter there - it's actually the hottest planet in our solar system! The temperature on Venus can get up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (474 degrees Celsius). That's hot enough to melt lead!

Venus doesn't have any water or life like Earth does, so it's not a very friendly place for people to visit. The air on Venus is also really thick and made up of mostly carbon dioxide. If you were to visit Venus, you would need a special suit to breathe and protect you from the hot temperatures and the clouds of sulfuric acid in the atmosphere.

Although Venus doesn't sound like a very nice place to visit, scientists are interested in learning more about it. They study its atmosphere, weather, and surface using telescopes and spacecraft, so we can learn more about the other planets in our solar system!
