Venus Callipyge

So Venus Callipyge is a statue that was made a long, long time ago. It's of a lady who is standing with her back to us, and she's wearing a fancy dress that's falling down a bit, showing her butt.

People think it's special because her butt looks really nice in the statue, and they've been talking about that for hundreds of years.

But here's the thing, remember how we said this statue was made a long, long time ago? Well, people back then didn't really have cameras or cell phones to take pictures of pretty things they saw. So they had to make their own pictures by making statues like this.

And one of the things that people liked to do when they made statues was to make the people in them look very pretty or very strong or very important. So that's probably why the person who made Venus Callipyge made her butt look so nice.

But even though people talk about how that part of the statue looks, it's still just a statue of a lady wearing a fancy dress. It's not real and it's not something that we should think is the most important thing about her.
