Verb phrase

A verb is a word that shows action or a state of being. A verb phrase is when you use more than one verb together to describe the action or state of being.

For example, "I am hopscotching." The verb phrase here is "am hopscotching." "Am" shows that I'm doing something right now, and "hopscotching" is what I'm doing. So the whole thing together tells you that I'm currently playing hopscotch.
