ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Verification and validation

Verification and Validation (V&V) is like having a safety check on something you made or did. It's a way of making sure that something (like a computer program) is working properly. Verification is when you make sure your work is correct and complete. Validation is when you make sure that it actually does what it was designed to do. For example: You make a computer program which is supposed to do a math calculation. Verification would be when you check that all of the components of the program are in the right place and working correctly. Validation would be when you put in a particular set of numbers and check that the answer given by the program is correct. This way, you know that it is working as it should, and that it is safe to use.
