Vermiculite

Vermiculite is a mineral that, when heated, expands like popcorn. It looks like flat, shiny flakes and feels soft and lightweight. You might find it mixed with soil in potting mixes, or used on its own to loosen soil in the garden. It helps the soil drain better and allows oxygen to get to the roots of plants, which helps them grow healthier.
