When someone dies, their family and friends might have a special ceremony to say goodbye and remember them. This ceremony is called a viewing or a funeral.
At a viewing, the person who passed away is placed in a special box called a casket, which is usually made of wood or metal. People come to see the person inside the casket and say goodbye.
The room where the viewing takes place is usually very quiet and dimly lit, with soft music playing in the background. The casket is often surrounded by flowers or other decorations, to make it look nice and to show how much the person was loved.
People may take turns approaching the casket to say their final goodbye. Sometimes they touch the person's hand or face, or leave a small gift, like a flower or a note.
Some people find viewings very sad and difficult, while others find comfort in being able to say goodbye and remember the person who passed away. It's okay to feel however you feel – everyone grieves differently.
