Viking program

Hey kiddo, do you remember the time when people sent robots to Mars? That was a long time ago, in the 1970s. One of those missions was called Viking Program, and it was a mission sent by NASA to explore the red planet, Mars.

Now, this program was made up of two robots, and they were designed to do two things: take pictures and check the soil of the planet. These robots were called Viking 1 and Viking 2, and they were the first robots to land on Mars.

Both of these robots were very smart. They had a big arm that worked just like a human arm, and they could scoop up soil and put it in a small container. Then, they heated up the soil to see if there was any organic material, like bacteria or anything else that might show that there had once been life on Mars.

The robots also had high-tech cameras that took lots of pictures of the Martian landscape. They could even see things that were smaller than a grain of sand!

For six whole years, these robots worked hard, and they sent a lot of information back to Earth. Scientists still use this information to learn more about Mars and how it was formed.

So, the Viking Program was a mission to Mars that used robots to collect information about the planet's soil and take pictures of its surface. These robots were very advanced for their time and helped scientists learn more about our neighboring planet!
