ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Virtual appliance

A virtual appliance is a virtual machine that is pre-configured with software applications, such as a web server, database or an email program. It is like a regular appliance, like a toaster or a TV, that you just plug it in and it's ready to use. The main difference is that a virtual appliance is software that runs on a computer, instead of a physical machine. It makes it easier to use because you don't have to set up and install the software, it's already installed.
