ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Virtual data room

A virtual data room is a computer program that helps people share very important information with specific people. Imagine having a secret fort with your friends and you only want certain friends to know the password to get inside. A virtual data room is kind of like that secret fort, but instead of being physical, it is on the computer.

Sometimes when adults do big business deals, they need to share important documents like contracts or financial statements with other important people. They need to make sure that only the right people see these documents and not everyone in the world. So, they use a virtual data room to share the documents with only the people they want to share it with.

It's like having a digital secret lock on a secret room that not everybody is allowed to enter. That way, the important documents are only seen by the people who are allowed to see them. It is a safe and secure place where people can share important information without worrying about other people seeing it.
