ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Visual modeling

Okay, kiddo! Have you ever drawn a picture, maybe of your family or pets or even something in your imagination? Visual modeling is kind of like drawing a very special picture that helps us understand and organize things better. It’s kind of like a map that helps us know how things work and how they are connected to each other.

For example, let’s say we want to make a cake. We could draw a picture of all the things we need to make the cake, like eggs, flour, sugar, butter, and a mixing bowl. We could also draw pictures of the steps we need to take to make the cake, like cracking the eggs, measuring the flour, and mixing everything together. This picture we draw helps us see all the things we need to have and do to make the cake.

Visual modeling can be used for other things too, like buildings or even computer software. It helps people understand what needs to happen or how things work. So, the next time you draw a picture, remember that it could be something helpful and important like a visual model!
