Voder

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a movie where a robot or an alien talks to humans and it sounds like they are speaking our language, but not quite right? That's because they are using a machine to talk, and one of the earliest machines used for this was called a voder.

The voder was invented a long time ago, in the early 1900s, as a way for people to make speech sounds without using their vocal cords. Now, the vocal cords are what help us make sounds when we talk, but some people might have trouble with their vocal cords or might not have them at all. That's where the voder comes in.

The voder is like a big piano keyboard, but instead of making music sounds, it makes speech sounds. It has different keys for different vowel and consonant sounds, and when someone presses a key, it moves some metal parts that make the right sound. But here's the tricky part: the voder doesn't make words all by itself. Someone has to play the keys in the right order, and then the voder will put the sounds together to make words.

It takes a lot of practice to use a voder well. You have to learn which keys make which sounds, and how to put the sounds together to form words. But once you get good at it, you can use the voder to talk to other people just like anyone else does.

So, in a nutshell, a voder is like a machine that helps people who have trouble speaking make sounds that sound like words. It's kind of like playing a musical instrument, but instead of making music, you're making speech sounds.
