Volition (linguistics)

Volition in linguistics means the intention or desire of a person to do something. It's like when you really want to have a piece of candy and you decide to go ask your mom for it. In language, you can tell if someone has volition by looking at the words they use. Verbs like "want," "choose," and "decide" are often used to show that someone has a strong desire to do something. For example, if you say "I want to eat ice cream," you're showing your volition to eat ice cream. Essentially, volition is about having control over your actions and deciding what you want to do.
