ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Waiting staff

Waiting staff are the people who work in restaurants and cafes and help you have a good dining experience. They usually take your orders, bring your food and drink to your table, and clean up after you’re done eating. They are kind of like your helpers when you are eating out.

When you first arrive at a restaurant, you will usually be greeted by a waiting staff member who will take you to your table. They might also give you menus so you can look at them and decide what you want to eat.

Once you have decided what you want, you tell the waiting staff member who will then go and give your order to the kitchen. The kitchen staff will make your food while you wait at your table.

When your food is ready, the waiting staff member will bring it to your table, along with any drinks you may have ordered.

If you need anything else like an extra fork or napkin, you can ask the waiting staff member for it. They’re there to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal.

After you finish eating, the waiting staff will come and clear the plates and utensils from your table. They might ask if you want dessert or coffee, and if so, they will bring that to you as well.

The waiting staff are there to make sure you have a nice time when you eat out. They’re friendly, helpful and always ready to assist you.
