Wasei-eigo

Wasei-eigo means "Japanese-made English." Basically, it's when Japanese people take English words and change them a little to make them sound more like Japanese words.

For example, "manshon" in Japanese means "apartment," but it comes from the English word "mansion." And "conbini" means "convenience store," but it comes from "convenience."

Sometimes, these words can be confusing for non-Japanese speakers because they don't sound quite like the original English words. But for Japanese people, they're a normal part of their language!
