ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Water transport

Water transport means moving things (like people, goods or materials) across water, usually using ships or boats. Water transportation is important because it can be a faster and more efficient way of moving things compared to land and air transportation.

Ships and boats are designed to move on water, but they can also carry things like trucks, cars, and trains. This is called "ro-ro" or "roll-on/roll-off" transportation.

Ships and boats move by using the power of engines and propellers to push water out of the way and move forward. They can also use sails, which catch wind to move forward.

Sometimes, ships have to cross big areas of water, like oceans or seas. This can take a long time, so they carry a lot of food, fuel, and supplies to keep the crew and passengers safe and comfortable.

Water transport is used for many different things, such as trading goods between countries, going on vacation by boat, or even rescuing people from natural disasters. It's an important way of getting things from one place to another safely and efficiently.
