ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wave envelope

Okay, so imagine you have a toy car that you really love. When you drive it, it moves back and forth, kind of like a wave. Now, sometimes the wave moves really fast and sometimes it moves really slow. The envelope, which is like a big imaginary bubble or box around the wave, helps us see how the wave is changing over time.

Think of it like a present wrapped in paper. The present is the wave and the paper is the envelope. As the present moves around, the paper bends and changes shape. We can see how the present is moving by looking at how the paper is changing.

When we talk about the wave envelope, we're really talking about the shape of the wave over time. Sometimes it gets bigger and sometimes it gets smaller, but we can always see what's happening by looking at the envelope. So, if you want to understand how a wave is changing, just look at its envelope!
