ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wave superposition

Wave superposition is like when two ocean waves come together. When they combine, you get one bigger wave. The wave that you see is the sum, or combination, of both of the waves. Each of the waves can be thought of as taking turns pushing the wave up and down. They don't know that they are both pushing at the same time, they just do it one after the other and the result is a wave that is bigger than either wave alone.
