ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wikipedia community

So, imagine you and a bunch of your friends really like playing with Legos. You all have different ideas of what you want to build, but you all agree that playing with Legos is a lot of fun!

Now, imagine that there are millions of people all over the world who really like writing about different topics, but they don't want to write alone. They want to write together, just like how you and your friends like playing together with Legos.

This is where the Wikipedia community comes in. Wikipedia is a website that has millions of articles written by different people, but they're written collaboratively. This means that lots of people help to write and edit each article.

The Wikipedia community is made up of all the people who work together to make Wikipedia better. They work together to find accurate information, write about new topics, and make sure that everything on Wikipedia is written in a way that everyone can understand.

Just like how you and your Lego friends work together to build something cool, the people in the Wikipedia community work together to make sure that Wikipedia has lots of interesting and useful information for everyone to read. And just like how you and your Lego friends have fun while you're building, the people in the Wikipedia community have fun while they're writing and editing articles together.
