Witch's broom

Imagine you have a broom that you use to sweep the floor, it has a long handle and bristles that help pick up dirt and dust. A Witch's broom is a bit like that, but it's not for sweeping the floor - instead it's a type of growth that some plants get that looks a bit like a broom, and it's named after the broom that witches are often shown riding on in stories and movies.

When a plant gets a Witch's broom, it means that it has a bunch of little branches and twigs growing from one spot on the branch, which makes it look like a little bush or a broomstick. Sometimes these Witch's brooms happen naturally, and sometimes they're caused by things like viruses or insects that mess with the plant's growth.

People who like plants sometimes like to collect Witch's brooms and grow them on their own, to see what kinds of new plants they can get from them. Some Witch's brooms are even used to create new kinds of fruit trees or shrubs, which can be useful for growing food.

So even though a Witch's broom sounds spooky, it's really just a funny-looking growth that can happen on a plant, and it's used by plant-loving people to create new and interesting types of plants.
