Witch-hunt

A witch-hunt is when people go looking for someone they believe has done something wrong. They often look for someone to blame and accuse them, even if they haven't done anything wrong. Sometimes people even start rumors that are not true in order to hurt someone. In the past, people did this to accuse women they thought were witches, even if they weren't. This is why it is called a witch-hunt.
