Moral panic

Moral panic is when a group of people suddenly get worried about something which they think is bad or dangerous. They often exaggerate how bad or dangerous it really is. It usually starts with people talking about it and then the news and other media outlets spreading the story. It's often about things that threaten the values or beliefs of a certain group of people, so everyone gets worked up and panics.
