Xenobiotic metabolism

Okay, here we go! Xenobiotic metabolism is a big word that means the way our bodies break down and get rid of things that don't naturally belong inside of us, like chemicals or medication we might take. Our bodies have special parts called enzymes that help with this process. Think of enzymes like little helpers that work for our bodies, kind of like workers at a factory.

When we take something like medicine, it goes into our bodies and the enzymes go to work breaking it down. They take it apart into smaller pieces until it's not harmful to us anymore, and then our body gets rid of those pieces through things like pee or poop. This is why we often have to go to the bathroom after taking medication.

But not all things are easy for our bodies to break down. Some chemicals or drugs can be harmful to us even after they're broken down by the enzymes. This is why it's important to always follow the directions on medication and not take too much.

So basically, xenobiotic metabolism is just a fancy way of saying our bodies have special helpers that break down things we put in them and get rid of them so we can stay healthy!
