Yaranga

A yaranga is a kind of shelter that people in the Arctic use to protect themselves from the cold weather. Think of it like a big igloo, but made out of materials like animal skins and birch tree poles.

The yaranga is usually about the size of a small room, with a round shape and a dome-like roof. The walls are made of layers of animal skins, like reindeer or seal skins, which are stuffed with insulation made from grass or moss. This helps keep the heat inside and the cold air out.

To build a yaranga, people first gather long sticks made from birch trees. These sticks are bent into a circle to create the frame of the shelter. Then, the animal skins are laid over the frame and secured to the sticks with twine or rope.

Inside the yaranga, there is a small fire pit in the middle. People use this fire to keep warm and cook food. Smoke from the fire is allowed to escape through a small hole in the ceiling.

Overall, the yaranga is a cozy and warm place for people to live in the cold Arctic weather.
