Yinshu

Yinshu is a type of ancient Chinese writing that was used a long time ago, before people knew how to write in the way we do today. Imagine if you were drawing pictures to tell a story, or writing secret messages using symbols no one else could understand - that's what yinshu was like!

Yinshu was created over 3,000 years ago, on bone and turtle shell during the Shang Dynasty in China. This kind of writing was used for important things, like predicting the future or communicating with the gods. The people who used yinshu believed that the spirits living in the world could give them answers to questions and help them make decisions about their lives.

But they didn't use regular writing which uses letters, numbers, or words like we do to communicate. Instead, they used special symbols with lines, circles, triangles, and other shapes that they believed had special powers. Each symbol represented an idea or a question, so if you wanted to ask a question, you would draw a symbol representing that question and wait for the spirits to reply with another symbol.

Today, yinshu is no longer used because people have developed other ways of writing, but it is still very interesting to learn about! People who study yinshu think it can give us insight into the beliefs and values of ancient Chinese people, and help us understand how they saw the world around them.
