ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

crowd sourcing

Crowd sourcing is when lots of people work together to complete a big task. It's like when you and your friends work together to clean up your classroom after a party. Each person does a little bit of work, and together you finish the job faster and more efficiently.

In the grown-up world, companies can use crowd sourcing to get lots of people to help them solve a problem or complete a project. For example, a company might need help designing a new logo. Instead of just asking one person, they can post the request online and anyone who wants to help can submit their ideas.

People who participate in crowd sourcing usually don't get paid a lot of money, but they get to be part of a big group working together on something cool. It's kind of like being part of a really big team!
