ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chaos theory

Chaos theory means that sometimes, a really small change can have really big results in a system. For example, imagine you decide to put one book in your school backpack differently. Instead of putting it in the front of your backpack, you decide to put it in the side pocket. You wouldn't think that this small change would cause anything big to happen - but it could! If you leave your house at the same time as usual, then you could go to the bus stop a little earlier or later than usual. Depending on when you get to the bus stop, you might end up on a different bus, different seat, different stop. All because of that one small change in your backpack. So Chaos theory is like a butterfly effect: a little change can cause a big change in the end.
