Cultural selection theory

Cultural selection theory is an idea that explains why certain ideas, products, or activities become popular or "catch on" around the world. It suggests that cultures have the power to select the things that spread and become famous. Ideas, products, and activities that are more useful or interesting are more likely to be picked up by more people and become popular. The theory suggests that different cultures will pick up different things based on their individual values and beliefs. So, for example, different countries might pick up different types of music, different types of food, or even different styles of clothing.
