Environmental impact assessment

Environmental impact assessment is like a check to make sure projects done by people, like building a new road or factory, will not hurt the environment. Scientists study the area where the project is happening and come up with a plan to make sure the project will not harm forests, water, animals, and other things that live there. They also try to figure out how to make sure the project won’t make too much noise, put too much pollution into the air, or use too much water. If the project looks like it will hurt the environment, there might be a different plan that would be better for the environment, or the project will not be allowed to go forward.
