Affordance

Affordances are about how things can be used. They are what make things around us easy to use and understand, even if we've never seen them before. For example, a chair has an affordance that you can use it to sit on. This means that it is easy for anyone to figure out what the chair is for just by looking at it. Even a 5-year-old can see that the chair can be used for something, without needing to be told. The same idea applies to many other things around us, like a door knob, a pen, a light switch, and more. All of these give us hints about how they can be used, just by looking at them.
