Air data boom

An air data boom looks like a long stick with little arms coming out of it. It's used on airplanes to measure things like how fast the airplane is going, how high it is, and what direction it's flying in.

Just like how we have our hands out the car window to feel the wind, the little arms on the air data boom help measure the wind and air pressure around the airplane. This information is sent to the airplane's computer to help the pilots know things like if they need to slow down, climb higher, or turn left or right.

The air data boom is super important because it helps keep everyone on the airplane safe by making sure that the pilots know exactly what's happening around the airplane at all times.
