Al-Andalus was a region in southern Spain that was part of the Muslim world from 711 to 1492. It was a special place because it was home to three different religions - Muslims, Jews, and Christians - and all three lived together peacefully and worked together to create a golden age of knowledge, science, and culture. Everyone was allowed to practice their own religion and there was a lot of trade and exchange of ideas. The cities in al-Andalus had beautiful mosques, libraries, gardens, and universities. People there enjoyed music, poetry, and art. Al-Andalus was an example of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
