ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Alcove (architecture)

An alcove is a small space in a room that is set back, like a little recessed area. Imagine if you had a big square room, and then someone took a smaller square out of one of the corners, kind of like a puzzle piece. That smaller square would be an alcove! Sort of like a mini-room inside of the big room. People might put a comfy chair or a little desk or a bookshelf in an alcove to make it feel like its own special spot.
