World War II was a time of great tragedy and hardship, and unfortunately terrible things happened on all sides. Allied war crimes are acts that were committed by the Allied forces (the United States, Britain, France and other countries that were fighting against Nazi Germany and the other Axis powers) during the war that were against the rules of war or against the laws of humanity. Examples of allied war crimes include bombing of civilians, mistreatment of prisoners of war, and unjustified killings or executions. All of these acts come under the umbrella of criminal activity and in many cases were punished after the war.
