Androgen-dependent condition

Okay kiddo, so there are some differences between boys and girls. Boys have something called testosterone which makes them look and act like boys. Girls have less of the testosterone so they look and act like girls.

Sometimes, boys and girls can have a condition where their body makes too much testosterone. This condition is called an androgen-dependent condition. It can cause boys to have bigger muscles, grow hair in places where they usually don't, and maybe even develop breasts (which is not supposed to happen in boys).

For girls, an androgen-dependent condition can cause them to have more body hair, have pimples, and they may even stop getting their period.

Doctors can give medicine to help balance out the testosterone so girls and boys can look and feel like themselves again. It’s really important to go see a doctor if you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms.
