ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Animal rights

Animal rights mean that animals should be treated fairly and kindly and not be hurt or used for things that are not necessary. It is the idea that animals are not things and should be respected just like humans. For example, if you see an animal in need of help, like a raccoon in the road, you should take the time to help it cross safely instead of just leaving it there. Animal rights also mean not using animals for something like testing makeup when there are other alternatives that don't hurt or harm animals.
