Annual fuel use efficiency

So imagine you have a big toy car that needs energy to move. One way to give it energy is to use petrol or gas. But how efficient your toy car is at using petrol or gas depends on a few things.

Firstly, how much petrol or gas do you have to put in the car? If you have to put in a lot of petrol or gas to move the car a small distance, that means the car is not very efficient. But if you only have to put in a little bit of petrol or gas to move the car a long way, that means the car is very efficient.

Secondly, how often do you have to put petrol or gas in the car? If you have to go to the petrol station a lot to fill up the car, that means the car is not very efficient. But if you only have to go to the petrol station a few times in a year, that means the car is very efficient.

Lastly, what is the distance your toy car has covered with the given fuel? We need to see how many kilometers or miles we can drive with a certain amount of fuel, the more kilometers or miles we can drive, the better fuel efficiency we have in our car.

So when people talk about annual fuel use efficiency, they are basically measuring how good a car is at using petrol or gas over a whole year. They look at how much petrol or gas a car uses to drive a certain distance and how many times they need to fill up the tank, to figure out how efficient the car is. The better the fuel use efficiency, the less petrol or gas you have to buy, and the less it will cost you in the long run.
