Okay kiddo, so do you know what an antigen is? It's a bad guy that comes into our body and tries to make us sick. It could be like a virus or a bacteria.
Now, when these bad guys come into our body, our immune system tries to fight them off!
But first, our body has to figure out what kind of bad guy it is. This is where antigen processing comes in.
So, our immune system has special cells called antigen-presenting cells. They take the bad guys (antigens) and cut them up into tiny pieces.
Then, they show these tiny pieces to other special cells called T cells. The T cells look at the pieces and figure out what kind of bad guy it came from.
Once the T cells know what kind of bad guy it is, they call in more immune cells to fight it off!
So, antigen processing is like a puzzle. Our body has to figure out what kind of bad guy is trying to make us sick before it can fight it off.
