Apothecary

An apothecary is kind of like a shop where people can go to get medicine or other treatments when they are sick or hurt. It's like a special store full of different kinds of medicines, like cough syrup or painkillers. People used to go to the apothecary instead of going to the doctor all the time! The people who worked in the apothecary were called apothecaries or pharmacists, and they had to know a lot about different kinds of medicines and how they could help people. They would mix up different ingredients in their shop to make special medicines for each person based on what they needed. Nowadays, we usually just go to the pharmacy or drugstore to get our medicine, but the apothecary was really important a long time ago!
